YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating the reported rape of a 15-year-old girl.

According to police, the girl and a 15-year-old friend went swimming Monday at North Side Pool at Belmont and Tod avenues. The two teens met a man known only as Matthew after leaving the pool and struck up a conversation with the 25-year-old.

The girl told police Matthew said he would like to record her singing voice and came to her North Side home at about 7 p.m. Tuesday to talk. There was no one else home at the time.

She said the man began touching her inappropriately and she asked him to leave, but he refused.

The girl told police the man then pinned her to a couch and sexually assaulted her. She said the man told her, “I am sorry if I hurt you. I will be calling you later,” before leaving.

The girl was taken to Forum Health Northside Medical Center. Police collected her clothes as evidence.
