Telling Dr. Wakefield’s story
We have all heard the say- ing “there are two sides to every story.” Well now we will have a chance to hear the other side of the story about the MMR vaccine and autism by Dr. Andrew Wakefield in his new book, “Callous Disregard.” Dr. Wakefield, while studying infectious diseases and inflammatory bowel disease, encountered parents of autistic children. He listened to their stories and investigated their claims — their children got the MMR and then they fell ill with bowel issues, along with developing autism. And for pursuing this issue and being an honorable man, he has been vilified and persecuted until he was driven from his home country and lost his medical license. The message was clear, and the end result was predetermined from the outset. Don’t question vaccines — ever — because if you do, look what will happen to you.
I doubt many people know that Dr. Wakefield’s original study has been replicated in five different countries.
In the U.K. and here in the U.S. the media has crucified him, while lapping up the information being fed to them by the government/pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Wakefield actually listened to the parents who said they gave their baby the MMR and then something happened to them. They stopped acting normally, they stopped talking, and they fell ill. They were eventually diagnosed with autism. This happened to my son.
Dr. Wakefield truly cares about children like my son. Unlike all the medical organizations and public health agencies that are in lockstep with pharmaceutical companies and only concerned with vaccination rates that translate into billions for the pharmaceutical industry. Speaking of vaccinating, for being the most vaccinated, our children are the sickest. We have epidemics of asthma, allergies, diabetes, learning, behavioral and neurological problems. And, our infant mortality ranks 42nd out of 120 countries. That’s horrible.
Dr. Wakefield stated, “These parents are not going away, the children aren’t going away, and I most certainly am not going away.”
His research will continue. Read his book and get the other side of the story.

VRM~ "The significance is that the MAJORITY of children with Autism suffer from Inflammatory Bowel Syndrome. They also share in common the fact that MOST have received the standard childhood series of vaccinations. Autism surfaces primarily around 12-15 months in most cases. The target date of the MMR shot. Wakefield established the gut/brain connection affecting all these children; the fact that removing Gluten containing products, sugar & milk products dramatically reduces the regressive symptoms of Autism. THIS study identifies a signature marker found in the gut of all these children. It's an important breakthrough and I think it says it all."
Also, when a doctor in this area is running experimentation's on children to see which vaccines work in "what combination" there is a major problem. My child was given MMR, Verivax and Prevnar 7 by this doctor just to see what would happen. My child not only got the whammy of MMR but an additional live virus on top of the 3 in MMR. Then he put the cherry on top by giving my child 7 bacteria at one time.
Dr Wakefield's case series had been replicated at least 5 times that I know of. The "Callous Disregard" lies solely on the shoulders of doctors like the one in Youngstown, the US government and most importantly on the UK's GMC.
I'm sorry for your troubles.
Would you do one thing? I wish you would have emphasized that Dr. Wakefield did not recommend skipping vaccinations. His suggestion was to spread them out, rather than taking many at once.
I'm sure you wouldn't want a child's death or disability from disease like measles on your conscience.
To be clear, infant mortality in the United States may be high, but is not caused by vaccinations. The highest cause of death is premature birth. It is impossible to ignore the part that fertility treatments play in this, as well as lack of medical care for poor mothers.
Wrong.
First Dr. Wakefield is not recommending spreading out vaccinations. I have heard him speak on several occasions and never heard him make such a recommendation. He has urged "trusting maternal instinct" for it is maternal instinct that has kept us all here. He recommends educating oneself on vaccines and making an informed choice that one is comfortable with.
Autism can be a horrible disability. Why is it that seems to be overlooked? Parents are saying they vaccinated and their child became ill and autistic. Autism kills too if you didn't know. Children with autism die from all kinds of horrible deaths. They wander off- for lack of fear and inability to understand risks and drown and freeze to death among meeting other horrendous endings. A 14 year old boy with autism just choked on a hot dog and died this week because he had problems chewing and swallowing and his lunch aid didn't cut up his food as they were supposed to.
Infant mortality is not attributed to soley to lack of medical care for poor mothers. It's reasons are unknown. As other countried are improving in this area the US is falling further behind. Also, maternal deaths after birth are rising. For all the vaccines we are giving to pregnant mothers (flu/H1N1) that their babies are all getting, along with Hep B in the first 12 -24 hours of life and a heavy and aggressive vaccine schedule in the first 2 years of life (what's SIDS- what causes that- it's a mystery- just like autism)- we should be looking at our vaccination policy- but we won't for if anyone suggests vaccines could play a role. They will be treated as Dr. Wakefield has.
