LeBron fan taunted for wearing Heat jersey at Indians game

Published: Thu, July 29, 2010 @ 12:16 p.m.

CLEVELAND (AP) — A fan wearing a Miami Heat jersey of LeBron James drew the ire of the crowd at a Cleveland Indians game and was escorted out of the ballpark.

Fans in the left-field bleachers chanted obscenities and pointed at the man Wednesday night during the sixth inning of the game between the Indians and New York Yankees. Hundreds of fans joined in before security led the man out of Progressive Field.

As he left, some fans followed him toward the gate with more derisive chants.

James' recent departure from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Heat caused a lot of anger in the city.

Many fans were near the left-field foul pole in hopes of catching the 600th home run ball by Alex Rodriguez.

The man made his choice. It's over, so move on.

This happened at a Baseball game, where the fans are mild mannered. It is a good thing it wasn't at a Browns or Cavs game.Indians fans don't say anything negative, even if you wear the others teams, shirts or hats.

This is really ridiculous and uncalled for.I agree get over it,unless the fan was taunting people then he deserved what he got.

i was there... this guy had no business wearing that jersey to the game, what he think was going to happen? He thought he was going to be funny but Cleavland fans are the worst ever and kept pouring beers on the kid and his girlfriend even when the police were helping them out of the stadium. His girlfriend started throwing punches and was very enertaining. They didnt get kicked out the got helped out so they didnt end up beaten

Good for the Cleveland fans, that type of behavior should never be tolerated.

Spectators should be segregated by which team they root for. I love throwing my beer at a Steelers fan when he's bought a ticket that's surrounded by home fans. What they should do is give the visiting team a section of the stadium, and if they're going to show up outside of that section with their jersey on, then they're shown the door (for their own safety).
