McDONALD — The McDonald school board has approved a budget reflecting an estimated deficit of $1.219 million through June 2011.
Estimated deficits of $609,848 are projected for the six-month periods of July 1 to Dec. 31, 2010, and Jan. 1 to June 30, 2011, treasurer Brian Stidham said.
The state placed the district in fiscal emergency in October 2009 with an anticipated $2.1 million deficit for fiscal year 2010, which ends June 30.
The district has received a $2 million loan from the state to get it through 2010.
In other business at the board’s regular meeting Monday, the board named Jeffery Hughes as its new president and LaDonna Lunn as vice president.
Newly elected member Jack Dugan was sworn in for a four-year term. Dugan is a former village councilman.
Also sworn in were Catherine Harvey, who was elected to a new four-year term, and Joan Miles, to complete the four-year term of the late Atty. William Roux. Miles had been appointed to the board in July 2008 after Roux’s death and had to seek election to the seat to fill out the unexpired term, which runs to December 2011.
The board also accepted a $750 donation from an anonymous donor who asked that the money be donated to the athletic department.
The board also added the athletic director to the list of administrative personnel to be reimbursed at $40 a month for a cell phone.
