HUBBARD — The city’s new mayor, Richard Keenan, will be sworn in at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hubbard City Council Chambers by Judge Michael Bernard of Girard Municipal Court. He will serve until the end of 2011 and fill the unexpired term of Arthur Magee, who retired for health reasons.
Keenan, 59, of Moore Street, was elected Dec. 29 by 11 Trumbull County Democratic Party precinct committee people. He served on city council in the early and late 1990s.
Comments
Mr. Keenan was "elected" not by the people but by SIX members of the Democratic Precinct including votes from himself, his father and his brother. On the state level we are represented by a woman who was soundly rejected by the voters TWICE but her rich father, himself a convicted felon, arranged for her to get an appointed seat in the Ohio house. Why do we even bother to have elections? We wish Mr. Keenen good luck. He is inheiriting a city in a real mess. The unsupervised city departments are rife with overtime abuses.
