Boardman man pleads guilty to drug charges

Published: Mon, February 22, 2010 @ 3:02 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — A Boardman man may be headed to prison for more than 14 years after pleading to drug-related charges in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

Archie Stanford of Moyer Street appeared today before Judge James C. Evans for a scheduled trial. Stanford had been charged with three counts of felony trafficking in cocaine.

Before the trial could get under way, however, Stanford reached a plea agreement with prosecutors. He agreed to plead guilty to all three charges.

The maximum sentence on the charges is 14 1⁄2 years in prison and fines totaling $30,000. He also faces a mandatory license suspension of six months to five years.

Prosecutors have recommended a three-year sentence in prison on all charges.

Stanford was indicted in November 2009 after prosecutors say he was involved in a series of drug sales to undercover officers.

Stanford is free on $40,000 bond. He will be back in court April 15 for sentencing.

Poor fellow ! Is he white ? The time that he is facing seems a bit harsh . Most Youngstown dealers get time served before being sentenced and probation .

Well Stan since hes from the good side of the tracks (suburbs of Youngstown) he should get more time. The reason being is because suburbanites are so superior compared to Youngstown people and shouldnt have to sell drugs.

Actually woolyd you should look at some facts before spouting your nonsense. Archie is a big time Youngstown dealer. His arrest record is larger than your uninformed post. He now has a Boardman address, no doubt at taxpayer expense, but he is never the less a Y-town thug/dealer. Once again Stan has hit the nail on the head.

High level drug dealers don't want to live in the hood because the risk of getting killed for their money and or drugs is too great . Low level drug dealers who are in the hood will sing like a canary and finger the high level suppliers when they are busted . Usually retaliation follows when this happens . IT'S ALL GOOD AND IT'S ONLY GETTING BETTER !

There isn't anywhere around the youngstown area anymore where there isn't drugs canfield and poland are no better they just seem to cover it up better. Youngstowns always in the news about the drugs but all the other city's around don't tell about there drug issues. I'm surprised people are sticking up for this guy.I don't think any amount of time is to harsh you wanna play the games of selling drugs they you pay the price, simple as that!!!!
