Man suing Canfield Panera over hot coffee

YOUNGSTOWN — A Canfield man has sued a Panera Bread restaurant, saying it negligently provided him with excessively hot coffee, failed to give him a lid for his coffee cup and caused him to be burned when the coffee spilled on a wobbly restaurant table Feb. 18, 2008.
Andrew G. Bresko, of Lisbon Street, sued Panera Bread, 4205 Boardman-Canfield Road, in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
The suit, filed earlier this week, seeking more than $25,000 in damages and demanding a jury trial, is assigned to Judge Maureen A. Sweeney. A call seeking comment from Covelli Enterprises of Warren, Panera’s franchisee, was not returned.

What a tosser! He did order hot coffee? And the lids are available anywhere in the store...and why did he not ask for one before picking up the cup? Oh he had this one planned! I am guessing that Panera like everyone else has warnings printed on the cups also...from all the other eejits who have sued before.
You ask for hot coffe you will get hot coffee. Would the whiny brat sue if he spilled iced coffee? maybe stained his shirt or heavens forbid his socks?
Hope he loses big time and has to pay all court costs.

This incident happened two years ago?? Musta been waiting till the last minute to file? People like him are the reason no one can afford insurance!

Of course he waited until the very last minute to file this case... he's an attorney and has no regard for the general public's time and money. He's also wasting the court's time. He should be disbarred for his blatant disregard for the legal system. When the coffee spilled on his lap it didn't burn as much as it will when his case is thrown out. Get a life you ignorant waste of space! I hope judge Sweeney does her job on this one!

Doesn't make sense at all. You prepare your own coffee at any Panera I have ever been to. I will post it on my panera blog http://www.gobread.com just to show how ridiculous it is. Others should see it.
Why didn't you do this as soon as it happened? I agree with an above post that you should be sued for being stupid. You are not going to win so be prepared to pay court costs----if it is not thrown out.
