Activities to celebrate National Entrepreneurship Week

The events will begin Feb. 22 at YSU Metro Campus in Boardman.


YOUNGSTOWN — Robert Fishbone, Thomas Entrepreneur in Residence and president of On The Wall Productions, will be one of the featured guests during the Williamson College of Business Administration’s celebration of National Entrepreneurship Week.

The week’s events for students, faculty and the business community include success stories from local entrepreneurs and resources available to entrepreneurs in the local community.

Events include:

Feb. 22: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Ohio Small Business Development Center hosts a “Business Start–Up Basics” seminar in Room 237 at the YSU Metro Campus in the Southwoods Commons in Boardman. The seminar is for those who have never owned a business. Registration fee is $10, and seating is limited. Feb. 23: 9:30 a.m., 12:30 and 2 p.m. Fishbone presents “Selling the Scream: Becoming a Successful Entrepreneur With Your Crazy Idea” in the Chestnut Room of Kilcawley Center. All three sessions are open to the public. Topics to be covered include Brainstorming Techniques; Reinforcing the Importance of Business Plans; Cross–Training for Creativity; and The Internet.

Feb. 23: 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. A dinner and panel discussion titled “Women Entrepreneurs: Increase Your Possibilities in Today’s World” at the DeBartolo Stadium Club at Stambaugh Stadium. Panelists include Kelly Bianco of Strategic Evaluation Group, Sherris Moriera–Byers of Views and Voices Magazine; and Ella Johnson, CPA and owner of Ella Johnson Accounting and Business Services. Feb. 24: 7:30 to 9 a.m. Fishbone also makes a presentation at the Holiday Inn South in Boardman. That session, designed for area business people, will focus on learning specific steps to creatively re- invent your business.
