Church murder suspect's parents charged with retaliation

Published: Fri, February 5, 2010 @ 6:55 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — John Houser, 46, and Frances Cianciola, 42, parents of Jamar Houser, the suspect in the Jan. 23 murder of Angeline Fimognari at St. Dominic Church, were arrested this afternoon outside their residence at 2704 Volney Road, on warrants charging them with retaliation.

Detective Sgt. Mike Lambert and members of the Mahoning Valley Violent Crimes Task Force, who had the house under surveillance, arrested the couple without incident around 2:25 p.m. when they pulled into their driveway.

Police seized a cellular phone from their car as evidence and took Houser and Cianciola to Mahoning County jail, where they remain this evening. The warrants were obtained by city police detectives.

Jamar Houser, 18, who was arrested Jan. 29, is charged with aggravated murder and aggravated robbery in the death of Fimognari, 80, of Sheridan Road, who was fatally shot in the head in her car in the church parking lot after leaving 8 a.m. Mass. Jamar Houser is jailed under $3 million bond.

Capt. Rod Foley, chief of detectives, said the elder Houser and Cianciola made oral threats Thursday in Youngstown to kill a witness in their son’s case. The retaliation charge is a third-degree felony, carrying a possible one to five years in prison.

Their son is set for a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Youngstown Municipal Court. No one will be permitted to enter the courtroom after 1:15 p.m.

And you wonder where the younger Houser got his low life skills!!!!!!!! Hook all three of them up to the needle or let Mrs. Figmonari's nephew have them all for 10 mins in a room by themselves!!!

Instead of trying to support the animal morally they threaten to kill a witness. Such a nice family. No remorse for what there son did and I'm sure he has none either. Truly amazing.

these parents obvisiouly didnt teach the kid any morals or what is acceptable by society.I hope these parents spend time in jail because they do not deserve to be among civilized society.

There should be pictures posted of these two animals that bred a beast so that the general public knows who they are dealing with!

Jamar has had a life in a home for personal survival & learned his teaching from his family. Regardless it is unfortunate that any youth white or black lives in an environment that his life has been a source of crime.

This is perfect for all those bleeding heart loosers !! This kid needs to be put to death ASAP & the parents need the maximum prison time allowed by law... Well, lets see if Prosecutor Gains & Judge D'Apolito screw this up !!

Good job by the Youngstown Police Deptartment...

is his mom related to the ciancolla in austintown?

We are in for a major fiasco before this case comes to trial . People have been shot and killed on the Southside and the killers were released for lack of evidence to ensure a conviction . Witness protection should be a top priority in this case .

fitnessbuff it appears that his mom and dad aren't married. What explanation do you want, regarding why her name is Ciancolla. What bearing does that have on anything ?

I see why Jamar acts like he does, his parents are also thugs.

Stan. Hopefully Gains wont come out like he did a few yeays ago and tell the witnesses they have to protect themselves. In the Charles Lynch cases 3 witnesses George Arroyo, Simone Haskins, & Ollie Shuller were all murdered before they could testify.

mikeymike, It has a bearing on everything. Don't try to pass it off as just one of those things. Subtract all the illegitimate births from social programs and prisons and figure how many we would need. Nothing contributes more to the moral decay of society.
I hope people don't post about how the ones they know are ok. It takes 3 generations to see how a person turns out. How they are , how they raise (and educate) their children, and how they care for their parents in their last years.

woolyd :

We need to establish a safe haven for the witnesses with 24/7 police protection . The penalty for witness intimidation needs some more teeth also .

jertaboy I don't disagree with you,I have the same morals and values.I merely wanted to know what the big deal was about the mothers name being Ciancolla.Fitness Buff has asked about the name,on more than one ocassion.I just wanted to know what the reason was.

And people want to know why teachers can't teach these kids.
Do the parents have anything to do with it?

Very true Stan but like Gains said before he doesnt have the manpower or resources to protect witnesses. And odds are this act may scare these witnesses off leaving the Housers to run amuck through Youngstown.

Just like I always say - the vast majority of the black community has no family moral values. Here is just a great example of that lack of family moral values. The parents of the suspected murderer, Jamar Houser, threatening those who would have justice for Angeline the poor eldrely lady who was coming out of church after mass to go home Could it get any worse then this lack of family moral vales Youngstown?

b/c maybe the mother is not black due to an Italian last name. So why say she suffers from breakdown family values and is black when may not well not be?
