Hoyt adds art classes

Staff report

The Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts has expanded its winter 2011 class schedule.

Thomas G. McNickle, a veteran educator and artist, will lead a one-day watercolor landscape painting workshop.

Ann Neikirk, a “creative memories” consultant, will have a workshop on digital- photo-collage calendars.

Two intuitive collage offerings are available. Florida author-artist Linda Maree will teach “The Everyday Artist: Uncovering Your Creative Potential.” Wendy Simon will present a four-week course called “SoulCollage” to help students tap their inner wisdom through the creation of a set of cut-and-paste cards that mirror self and soul.

Carnegie-Mellon graduate Jesse Katrencik will conduct an eight-week class titled “Photography: Beyond Snapshots,” which will stress methods and composition.

Ceramic Guild member Sylvia Ewen will round out the new classes by offering a fun and inexpensive seasonal ornament decorating workshop for children.

All the new classes and workshops, in addition to the other, including stained glass, copper enameling, drawing, pastels, plein air painting, Italian and ballroom dance, will be Jan. 18 through March 12.
