Woman pleads guilty to stealing money from Boardman car dealership

Published: Mon, December 6, 2010 @ 6:00 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — The New Middletown woman accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Boardman auto dealership has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors that could land her in prison for up to five years.

Debra L. Chance, 40, of Kerrywood Street, appeared today before Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for a pretrial hearing. Chance previously had been indicted on one count of aggravated theft, a second-degree felony.

Chance, in a plea agreement with prosecutors, agreed to plead guilty to aggravated theft in the third degree. The third-degree felony can carry a five-year prison sentence. A second-degree felony carries a maximum eight-year sentence.

Prosecutors will recommend Chance be sentenced to four years in prison on the felony theft conviction. She will be sentenced Feb. 8.

Chance is believed to have stolen between $500,000 and $1 million from The Honda Store on Boardman-Canfield Road. The alleged thefts are believed to have taken place between Sept. 1, 2005, and April 30, 2009.

This is truly amazing how The Vindicator can take bits and piece of what was actually said today in the court room and turn it into this article! The next time that the vindicator prints an article like this why dont you put word for word what was actually said by the courts. What the community really needs to read about is what the dealerships are really doing to the consumer such as the DEALER BUMP on every financed deal! And really the next time you payoff your loan look at the signature on the contract, most likely it's not your true signature. And dont forget to look at the credit life insurance because you probably dont even know you have it because your paperwork has been re-signed after you leave. This is a common practice done at all six of the dealerships.

The next time you thought your payment was a certain amount but when you get your payment book and it only a dollar or two more thats because it is going into the F&I department profit! There is so much more that I have to tell so check back every day!!! Then you will know what the dealerships are really doing to you!!!
