Police say tips after the broadcast of security-camera footage led them to arrest a 14-year-old in the robbing of a business at gunpoint.
The teen, of Youngstown, was arrested Monday morning, charged with one count of aggravated robbery.
The teen is accused of stealing $100 and a necklace from Hair Depot on Market Street on Nov. 18.
According to reports, a person entered the store and said “Give me the money” to an employee, pulling a black pistol from his waistband.
The teen was arrested at the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center, where he had been detained in an unrelated matter.
“Reporters and the public have assisted us in solving crimes in this case and in the past,” said Chief Jack Nichols.
He added that the number of violent crimes committed by juveniles seems to be consistent over the last few years.
