LATHAM, Ohio (AP) — Authorities have found more than 40,000 pot plants in Ohio this month — almost as many as officials uncovered in the state in all of last year.
A special agent supervisor with the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification says he expects those numbers to increase in the coming years as authorities say outdoor pot-growing operations are becoming more common outside of the West Coast.
Earlier this month, state and local officials found about 22,000 marijuana plants in the southern Ohio village of Latham. The bust was so big authorities chose to burn the plants in the outdoor area where they were found, instead of destroying them elsewhere.

Plenty of pot is grown in the city of Youngstown . No busts here in the news and pot dealers are doing a brisk business .
Do you think it was on it's way to the Canfield Fair. ??????
Every year they make a big bust right before the fair. The Ytown guys need a clear way to sell their good stuff at top price .
Stan and Freeatlast,
I can't believe that you all would say something like this about Youngstown. The Crime rate is low and everyone is just fine here. This is far from the truth. They need to get the FBI and the Police involved more in this drug thing. I forgot the Police are not here to do a job. They are here to inflict pain on people, that are doing nothing wrong. I say bust all the drug dealers. They need to know how a cold jail cell feels.

You guys kill me. You have a negative comment about everything that goes on in Ytown. Do you live here? If you do and dislike it so much move, if you don't , how do you know so much about what goes on here? Are you one of those people that come here from the burbs to buy your drugs? Do you have a job cause you most certainly do not have a life! What have you done productive for your neighborhood/city lately?
LEGALIZE IT and stop wasting our tax dollars on these "busts" and start increasing the income for the state of Ohio by taxing the SH*T out of it like California!
nane6,
I could not agree more with what you have said....especially since this article has absolutely nothing to do with Youngstown.
I also agree with censoredship....How ironic that there was an article in yesterdays vindy about how marijuana saved a woman's life who had pancreatic cancer. Alcohol is a much deadlier "drug" than marijuana has ever been, with no benefits (except taxes).
