Published: Mon, August 23, 2010 @ 8:57 a.m.

As a former medic, who has been on plenty of crashes at that location at that early in the morning, high speed has always been a factor and most of the time alcohol has also has been a factor.
Eliminate both of those factors and there is no problem.

Possibly, alcohol and speed are contributors. On the other hand if the utility poles were set back further from the roadway, perhaps the result, no fatalities. A guard rail may also defect vehicles from running off the roadway. But, most important is that the government force the setting back of the utility poles.............PHISHIE

& who is going to pay to make all roads level with no turns and pull back all the poles?? Let's just have the government provide us all with plastic bubbles from birth to protect us from ourselves....are you people nutz? We have enough government regulation to last us a hundred years. Heres' a thought... take this tragic accident as a lesson to us all..... Drive Safely!!!!!!!!! That doesn't cost anything !!!!!!

I thought there use to be a stop light there or warning sign- but since there is a school there- wouldn't a stop light be in order? It would at least slow the traffic down. God forbid one of these accidents happen during school hours when the children are in harms way. @madasheck- if you were a parent whose child attended YCS- would you depend on the motorist to drive safely or would you push for road improvements. I'm sure something needs to be done to make the public more aware.

@donfun
I have children in school and I depend on everyone to drive safely every day!!!!
make the public more aware of what?
It's a five lane road with little white lines to stay between & the speed limit is 35mph & there is a school sign...What more do we need?
I can not see the need for more wasted tax dollars & more government intervention to "solve" a problem that should take care of it's self...
We Can't Afford It!
