CHICAGO (AP) — Political luminaries and members of the public are expected to attend the funeral services for former Congressman Dan Rostenkowski.
A Tuesday morning funeral Mass is planned at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Chicago, where Rostenkowski was baptized, confirmed and attended services all his life.
Rostenkowski served 18 terms in Congress.
He is known as one of the most powerful politicians of his time and is credited locally for bringing in millions of federal funds, though his legacy is tainted by a corruption conviction and federal prison time.
He died last week of lung cancer at age 82.
Rostenkowski burial is planned for Tuesday at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles.
