Racing is on at Sharon, Mercer

HARTFORD

Sharon Speedway will host the first night of 6 PAK racing at the 3/8-mile dirt oval at Sharon Speedway on Saturday.

It will be the start of the points season for 410 Sprints, Big Block Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Limited Sprints and Hobby Stocks.

Saturday is also Scout Night and Youth Sports Night. Children in athletic and scout uniforms will be admitted free. Also, there’s free admission for students in Mercer County schools who bring their report cards to the track.

Tickets are $13 for adults ages 14 and older, $5 for teens from ages 9 to 13 and kids 8 and under are free. A Family Pass for $32, which includes admission for two adults and up to four children under 13, is available. Pit passes are $25.

Tickets and passes are available at the speedway ticket windows, by calling (330) 772-5481 or by visiting sharonspeedway.com. Gates open at 4 p.m. with racing at 6. Parking and camping is free.

MERCER RACEWAY PARK

Mercer, Pa.

After the second straight cancellation of the season, Mercer Raceway Park hopes to return to action Saturday.

Residents from Shenango Valley will be able to see a full night of racing from the Sprint Cars, Modifieds, FASTRAK Late Models, Stock Cars, and the Mini Stocks free.

Race time is 7 p.m.

Residents of Sharon, Hermitage, West Middlesex, Sharpsville, Farrell, or Wheatland address will be admitted free into the grandstands! All accompanying children 15 and under will be also be admitted free.

Saturday is Mahoning Valley Scrappers Night. The first 1,000 fans will receive a complimentary club box seat for the July 18 “Keystone Community Day” at Eastwood Field.

A special autograph session will take place from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the midway area featuring Dustin Martin, Mike Anderson, Jr., Leigh Wheeler and Zach Hawk.

The first 300 will receive a collectible autograph card.

Pit gates open at 3:30 p.m. with grandstands at 4:30. Hot laps begin at 6:15 p.m.

These two tracks are doing anything to out do one another. For the "racers sake" work together. I like both tracks. I raced at both tracks but now I have to choose which one to race at. Don't you see you are just going to hurt yourself with this. Why not every other weekend - Saturday you change up. If this was done I would guess you would have more racers like the Limited Sprints would love a full run at Mercer.
