STAFF Report
Youngstown
The Operating a Vehicle Impaired Task Force arrested five people Saturday night on charges of drunken driving.
Tracy Styka, Mahoning County OVI Task Force coordinator, said the sobriety checkpoint on Federal Street in downtown Youngstown resulted in 11 total arrests.
Styka said the average blood alcohol content for those arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated was 0.208. The legal limit for an adult 21 or older is 0.08.
“That average is higher than we’ve been running,” she said. “It was around 0.16, and we previously saw a drop to about 0.12.”
Styka said the location of the checkpoint was determined a year ago and had nothing to do with Saturday night’s Kelly Pavlik fight

Excellent work ! THANKS ! Getting the impaired off the roads is priority one !
It's tragic when someone is injured or killed by an impaired driver. But there is less concern (because there's no demon rum to blame) when 70% of fatalities involving motor vehicles involve stone cold sober people who apparently are poor drivers. And the 30% of alcohol-related deaths is probably higher that it actually is due to the methodology used to determine what is "alcohol-related." This information is from the Ohio Department of Public Safety website.
Pathetic. Youngstown = Drunken Idiot Capital of the WORLD.
@ oldstown alittle overboard with saying the world?
