Police seek driver in hit-run accident

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

Police are looking for the driver responsible for an accident that put one woman in a hospital intensive-care unit.

John Creps, 38, of Austintown was riding a motorcycle down Mahoning Avenue just after midnight Sunday with Jacquelyn Massaro, 29, of Youngstown as a passenger when a car turned in front of the motorcycle.

Massaro and Creps were thrown from the motorcycle.

Creps was treated for bruises and scrapes sustained in the accident, but Massaro was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center and placed in the intensive-care unit, where she remained as of late Thursday afternoon.

Detective Sgt. Patricia Garcar said police are looking for a black woman driving a dark-colored Saturn.

She said the woman did go into a store near the location where the accident took place and was captured on video, but she left before police arrived.

Garcar said anyone with information concerning the identity of the woman believed to be involved in the accident should call her office at (330) 742-8777.
