STRUTHERS — Dorothy McLaughlin, a trailblazer among women in Mahoning County law enforcement and a longtime leader in local Democratic Party politics and veterans’ affairs, died in her Struthers residence Thursday morning at the age of 86 after a multiyear battle with cancer.
She was born Dec. 1, 1923, in Struthers.
Arrangements are pending at the Becker-Cunningham Funeral Home.
She was among the first female Mahoning County sheriff’s deputies and among the first women assigned to the sheriff’s road patrol.

I have know Dot for many years, She was a wonderful women,caring loving,and a joy to all. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends!! She had done more than people realize for our city (Struthers). God Bless her!!!
