Warren police retrieve skateboard stolen from teen

WARREN

Police tracked down a stolen skateboard that was tossed into the woods near Niblock Avenue Northwest and returned it to its 15-year-old owner after he alleged that he was robbed at knifepoint by another teen.

The 15-year-old, of Champion, told police he allowed a fellow teen male to borrow his skateboard at the Warren skate park near Packard Music Hall around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

When the boy refused to give the skateboard back, the victim and his friends approached the boy and took it back. A short time later, the suspect approached the victim with a knife, and the victim handed over the skateboard, he told police.

About two hours later, when the victim’s friend’s mother arrived, she called Warren police, who located the suspect on Drexel Avenue Northwest, took him to get the skateboard and returned it to its owner.

As of Friday, no charges were filed against the suspect, police said.
