Vehicle license fees go up Thursday

Published: Wed, September 30, 2009 @ 4:20 p.m.

COLUMBUS — Ohio drivers will be paying a little more to register their cars and renew their licenses, under fee increases that take effect Thursday.

The changes were part of the state transportation budget approved by lawmakers earlier this year but taking effect now.

Among the fee changes affecting Ohio drivers, according to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles are:

• Vision screening fees are increasing $1.75 to $2.75 from $1. The change will be included in standard and commercial driver’s license renewals, which will cost $25.75 and $44.75, respectively.

And don't forget that if you don't renew your tags or your license within 7 days after it expires you will now be fined (what our bullsh*t Governor calls a fee) 20.00 and that full amount goes straight to the Ohio State Highway Patrol to help get them out on the roads to enforce nothing!! So if you have a vehicle that you may only use say in the summer and your license expires in the fall, like a motorcycle, you can't wait until spring to get your new tags because you'll have to pay a "fee" of 20.00 extra dollars on top of the tag fees. The Governor says that this is not made to be a burden on Ohioans but then what the he** is it?!?! Strickland, you need the boot, OSHP, you need the boot, let someone else drive around and bother people for a headlight out or not having their seatbelts on or going 5 miles over the limit! You are worthless! Since your hands are so far down in my pockets why don't you grab a hand full and yank!!

It's always worse when the Democrats are in office; not that it's not bad enough with the GOP. We need to scrap both major political parties. Didn't Strickland just scrap our state income tax refund?

THEVOICE, I agree with you 100% about the governor and the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The State Hoopies are just a bunch of white meter maids harassing good citizens for burned out tail lights, etc. They profile cars who they believe are driven by working fools like us because they're seeking a revenue generator and we get stuck with the burden. They ignore illegal aliens, etc. After all, they can't make any money from ticketing illegal aliens and get promoted for bringing lots of money into the department.

The government is America's most lethal enemy.

ProAmerican, cudos, you know exactly where I'm coming frrom. I emailed Strickland (I am not even giving him the dignity of calling him Governor) and I am really curious if I get an email back. They say they will and they might but I am sure it will be some put together blanket email that some slacker intern wrote to shuck off the voters when they have a problem. We can vote every F-ing vote on whether to have casinos but when it comes to taking money out of our pockets it doesn't get a vote they just steal and steal!!
