  Eugene Cumberbatch Trial

Found Guilty

Found Guilty

WARREN — A Trumbull County Common Pleas jury this morning found Eugene Cumberbatch guilty of seven charges in the shooting deaths of

Lloyd McCoy Jr., 11, and Marvin Chaney, 26.

The two were killed in April 13 inside Chaney’s house on Wick Street SE. The jury found that Cumberbatch, of Warren, was one of two that got out of a car and fired 25 shots into the house. The shooting was prompted by Chaney’s theft of drugs and $3,000 in cash from Cumberbatch and Eugene Henderson, the other shooter. Henderson’s trial will be Nov. 2.

Cumberbatch, for whom the judge ordered a presentence investigation, could get life in prison.

Much more needs to be done to cut the supply lines bringing drugs into the area . The costs from the fallout of drug activity are placing a burden on society while the drug cartels are rolling in wealth .

This country is not fighting the war on drugs the right way. As long as as their is a demand for drugs and they remain illegal, there will always be a supply. The only thing a drug bust does is raise drug prices.....it's simple supply and demand! A drug bust never cuts demand, only supply, and with being said there will always be an entrepreneur ready to move in on the opportunity to make a quick buck, its how our society works.

We are not quenching the thirst for drugs, just simply cutting back the supply, and since these drugs come from natural sources, they will always be around. However, if the government were to legalize all drugs and supply them there would be an excess and prices would drop. It's hard for people to make money off of items that are readily available at any major drug store. There wouldn't be much sense in robbing and killing people for a bottle of peroxide or pack of benadryl would there be?

As for cutting the demand, we as a society and country should put more effort in to drug education. This is the only way to cut demand. We have already shown that fear of being caught as a "user" doesn't deter anyone from purchasing drugs.

"However, if the government were to legalize all drugs and supply them there would be an excess and prices would drop."

The liberal way would be to legalize street drugs and have welfare pay for them . Drug addicts aren't employable so the cost would be put on the worker who is drug free and not on welfare .

Cut the supply chain and put the suppliers in prison . Let the liberals howl about their supporters being in prison . Incarceration indeed cuts the supply chain and stops addicts from using drugs . Thefts go down also as the freedom to do so has been curtailed .

Liberals will always be around to try and circumvent the law . There is no need for society to be inconvenienced so the criminals and drug addicts wont be .
