STAFF REPORT

YOUNGSTOWN — Habitat for Humanity is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony at 6 p.m. today at 12 Maranatha Drive, the third new-construction house being built by the organization’s chapter in Mahoning County this year.

The house is being built for Genese Woods and her family. The house, located on the city’s East Side, is expected to be finished in about six months. The two other Habitat for Humanity houses are next door to the one being built for the Woods family. This house will be the 31st built by the Mahoning County chapter of Habitat.

Woods has volunteered for the organization for about two years. Once the house is finished, she’ll buy it from Habitat for no profit with a zero-percent interest loan. It costs about $80,000 per habitat home.

Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County is a faith-based, ecumenical, nonprofit builder of homes for low-income people in our community.

For more information about the event, volunteering and donating, contact Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County at (330) 743-7244, or by e-mail at hfhmc@sbcglobal.net or at its Web site, www.hfhofmc.org.
