WARREN — A woman who killed a man with a knife from under her shirt during an argument July 28 walked out of Trumbull County jail a free woman on Thursday after a Trumbull County grand jury refused to indict her.
Melanie Ferrell, 37, of Washington Street, no longer faces any charges in the death of Craig A. Holliday, 39, of North Park Avenue, said Diane Barber, a Trumbull County assistant prosecutor.
Ferrell told a Warren police officer: “I can’t believe I stabbed him,” and was taken to the police station for questioning after the 11:45 p.m. stabbing in the parking lot of USA Gas Mart on North Park Avenue.
A Warren police report said Ferrell and Holliday had been drinking and arguing and that Holliday was “keeping the argument going and being aggressive” toward Ferrell.
Holliday is believed to have pulled a paint can lid remover from his belt and used it to cause a superficial scratch on Ferrell’s chest, below one breast, and Ferrell then pulled a knife out from under her shirt and stabbed Holliday in the chest.
Holliday then walked to his apartment next to the gas station, where he collapsed.

Those who indulge in the booze have a multitude of problems . Will she be totally free or will she bear the burden if his death the rest of her days ?
Nope, she's free
I wonder how the situation would be different if she had pulled out a paint can lid remover and scratched him, and he had pulled out the knife and killed her. Would he be freed?
I doubt it, it seems like women can get away with more than a man could.
Another bad headline. How about: Woman Cleared by Grand Jury or Grand Jury Finds Killing Justified. "Woman Who Killed Goes Free"--common, thats just crappy.
Also--its only been to the GJ. That doesnt amount to going free. No jeopardy has attached and it could be submitted again.
