CINCINNATI (AP) — An internal investigation by the Cincinnati Police Department has determined that an officer used excessive force when he zapped a city councilman’s daughter with a stun gun during a traffic stop last month.
The report released today says 26-year-old Celeste Thomas, who was sitting in the vehicle with her feet on the sidewalk, posed no immediate threat to the officer.
Officer Anthony Plummer was fired after the incident for excessive use of force, but he was later rehired by an arbitrator. Police Chief Thomas Streicher has taken away Plummer’s police powers.
The city will decide whether Plummer should be disciplined.

Do hope that tazers will be stopped completely and never used again by any officers. This would be in retrospect that every citizen should not be tazered by an officer. When officers use excessive force on "citizens" most of the time nothing even is said so Celeste Thomas is a citizen but a daughter of a councilman therefore the officer is fired then rehired and will be disciplined. Any man or woman's daughter should be treated with the same respect so stop the use of tazers.
I agree 100% ImUrPO.
Ignorance of reality and human nature is bliss to those who do not understand the animal mentality of some people who need force thrust upon them to comply with normal societal standards.
hey pci510 you are absolutely right a city councilmans daughter if this was anyone else you would have never heard anything about t. I have a friend who was taserd for no reason and nothing was said, go figure
"It's Obvious You Know Absolutely Nothing."
PC at least knows how to use capital letters. And probably the correct usage of "you're". And maybe even how to spell "loser."
I usually avoid calling people out on this sort of thing, but if YOU'RE going to accuse someone of knowing nothing and then post babble...well.
Tasers have their place. Some officers are too quick to use them, but they have their place, along with other non-lethal weapons.
IMURPRO obviously knows only to support 100% what the police do. He is one of those people who view police as superhuman and unable to be corrupt or individuals who commit no wrong. Most are good but there are a few who violate people and are corrupt. Thye need to be viewed individually like all humans because they are equals no better than the society they protect.
"Yes I know absolutely nothing."
Is "absolutely nothing" an oxymoron?
Seriously.
I already realize I am a moron, so save the key swipes.
I think everytime an offier tazes a person he should have to go through training and get tazed him/herself. If they are apprehending a truely dangerous person who poses a threat, shoot them. I do find it hard to beleive Ms Thomas was "6'5 & Weighs 270 lbs" as Im states tazers should be for.
Officers DO have to get tased as part of the training and qualification to be allowed to carry a taser.
If an incident arises where a person bigger than an officer decides he's not going back to jail, or has incredible strength as a result of being on drugs, this is where the use of the taser is perfect. What do you want the officer to do in a situation like that? Hit the suspect in the head with his/her flashlight? That would then become deadly force, and the first thing the officer would be asked is "why didn't you taser the person?"
So once again, the cops are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
