HAMILTON, Ohio (AP) — A convicted murderer hoping to avoid the death penalty has admitted killing his former girlfriend 26 years ago.
Sixty-two-year-old Von Clark Davis testified before a three-judge panel that will decide whether he should face his original sentence of execution. Davis expressed remorse Tuesday for what he called a senseless, cowardly act in which he fatally shot former girlfriend Suzette Butler in 1983.
The southwest Ohio woman’s family, including her daughter, said it was the first time they had heard Davis admit to the slaying of the 24-year-old woman in Hamilton.
Appeals judges have twice ordered new sentencing hearings for Davis because of lower-court errors on what factors should be used in determining whether he should get death.

He'll die of old age first
Yes he should receive the same punishment that he dealt out !!!!!
My opinion is; remorseful, well let us be remorse, after he dies.
He admited committing the crime, so let's stop all court proceedings and start carrying out the 'penalty phase.'
The authorities are sure he did it, or he wouldn't be on trial. He admitted doing it. What more do they need?
I'm sure his victim wanted to live too.
I say proceed with the execution as now it is too late to be remorseful as that woman will never come back to see it, why should taxpayers dollars continue to cover his expenses.
He will die sooner or later and it won't be his own choice . Suzette Butler died sooner and it wasn't her choice .
He was her executioner and now he fears his executioner . He seen no problem in putting her to death . Time is running out for him on both sides of the spectrum and one way or the other he will meet his fate .
I think he DID do a bad thing, but he admitted to doing so. He should go for life, but let him live!
He will suffer in jail anyway... its worse than dying
