Kolton Codner of Youngstown and Mary Toomey were presented with the Williamson College of Business Administration Outstanding Senior Leadership award during a recent graduation breakfast. Codner won the Marketing Award while Toomey won the Accounting Award. The awards recognize outstanding academic performance, leadership contributions and commitment to professional development.

OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY, Columbus

Jessica Prokup of Warren has been awarded an $8,000 scholarship by the Johnson Controls Foundation. She is one of 25 students in the United States to receive the award offered to children of Johnson Controls employees.

Her father, John Prokup, is employed in Johnson Controls’ Building Efficiency business in Youngstown.

She is a molecular genetics major and a graduate of Howland High School. She enjoys singing, sports, acting, volunteering and reading.

CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY, CLEVELAND

The Case Alumni Association (CAA) has awarded Keith Lupton of Cortland a scholarship for the 2009-2010 academic year. He is one of 120 students who have received a scholarship as part of the CAA’s annual Junior-Senior Scholarship program based on merit, need and personal skills. He is a junior engineering physics major with a concentration in electrical engineering. He is involved in Student Government, Big Brother Big Sisters of Cleveland and is a Student Ambassador. His GPA of 3.75 and he is a dean’s list student.

CLARION UNIVERSITY, clarion, pa.

Clarion University President Joseph P. Grunenwald has announced his retirement, effective June 30, 2010. Grunenwald, who has served as president since 2003, is retiring after 40 years of public service, the last 32 of which will have been at Clarion. Dr. Grunenwald earned a bachelor’s degree at Youngstown State and a master’s and doctorate from Kent State University.
