As of 6:15 a.m. CST, Jim Traficant remained in the Federal Medical Center in Minnesota, where he spent most of his prison term.
He has been free to leave since 12:01 a.m. Despite some expectation that Traficant would leave the facility before dawn, he has yet to depart as the sun has begun to rise. Media members including Michelle Nicks of WFMJ-TV and a team of reporters from The Associated Press have been outside of the facility awaiting word of the former congressman's release since Tuesday.

Well, if today is "T" day then I guess that Sunday's Appreciation Dinner is a "T" party, so to speak.
What I find really funny here is that the same media that keeps complaining that Jim is a blight and embarrassment to our community, and they wish he would go away, can't get enough of Jim. To the point that they are literally camped out on "Jimbo watch" from minute to minute and reporting actual time of his departure. Maybe the media is who should GO AWAY! Leave Jimbo alone and let him resume his life quietly, since you want is to be rid of him.
I wrote internal Vindy notes to "Viewpont" and "Tugboat" asking what they wrote that got whacked by Vindy staff.
There has been a lot of strong opinion expressed on this bulletin board, but I've never seen any censorship.
The postings must have been either truly profane or truly libelous -- but those writers' previous posts have not been all that outrageous.
Right now, in a sense, Jim Traficant is the most powerful man in the Mahoning Valley. Ironic, no?
Yes he did something illegal. Yes he is a convicted felon. And yes he brought negative publicity to this area, which he was not alone in doing. But he has served his sentence, paid his debt to society as the saying goes, and will now be a free man. Shouldn't he be allowed to return to society and live in peace? After all, we let murderers, rapists, child molesters and dog killers back into society. Remember, he was responsible for some good things in this area. Think about that when you walk into the Covelli Center for an event.
Apparently the people of the Mahoning Valley don't understand what news is.
