Delphi Packard Electric retirees will receive health-care benefits and pensions from General Motors under a deal announced today.
Jim Clark, president of the International Union of Electrical Workers, said the agreement was reached with the automaker and the U.S. Treasury, which funded GM’s emergence from bankruptcy protection. The agreement still must be approved by a bankruptcy court judge.
GM plans to make payments to cover pension amounts that won’t be paid by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp., which is taking over Delphi pensions, Clark said.
Delphi retirees would receive the full amount they were owed, including supplements that are provided to workers, until they are eligible for Social Security payments, he said.
The health-care offer would include lower monthly payments but will have higher deductibles, he said. Retirees who don’t want health care would receive cash payments, he added.

Please be accurate. The information on the website applies only to unionized retirees and employees. The salaried folks are not included in this statement. Please correct your story to reflect the facts.
Please state in your article that the salary workers have lost their health care and their pensions are going to be cut drastically, your article does not reflect the discrimination taking place against the salary retirees.
Or better yet please do a story on that FACT.
Delphi Salary Retires were treated unequal! Their pensions are going to the PBGC! Unfair practices! Hourly retires are being "taken care of" by GM/Delphia. Unfair practices!
I agree, please do a story on the unequal treatment of Delphi Salary Retires VS Delphi Hourly Retires.
We union people are on your side. We have said that all along. You come to our meetings and we reinforce that. Our job is not done until you ALL get what you were promised. The reported story needs more clarification of facts. Look for us this weekend supporting you and your fight for equality and justice!
Where were you hourly people when salaried lost their health care and then probably their pensions????You were happy as a clam. There was NO FIGHTING TO HELP SALARIED until the other boot dropped off and you fought for yourself. When you got back ALL of your benefits you thought you'd make yourself look good and help the salaried. I'm VERY grateful that you are but all you guys had the same employer and should have been helping each other all along.
