Police charge two men with armed robbery of elderly woman

Published: Thu, October 29, 2009 @ 1:35 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — Two men are in Mahoning County jail for their reported role in the armed robbery of an 83-year-old woman earlier this month.

Police arrested Damon Williams, 21, of Earle Avenue, and Jonathan Tellington, 20, of Crescent Street, Struthers, on Wednesday at Tellington’s home and charged each with one count of aggravated robbery.

Williams and Tellington appeared today for arraignment before Judge Elizabeth Kobly of Youngstown Municipal Court. Prosecutors told the judge Tellington had no prior criminal record, but Williams does have a prior conviction for carrying a concealed weapon.

Judge Kobly set bond for both men at $50,000 and ordered them to have no contact with the woman they are accused of robbing at gunpoint.

I don't care how desperate someone is -- this is just wrong. What happened to treating your elders with respect? Furthermore, what happened to keeping your hands to yourself and respecting other peoples' property?
