Workers picket, General Extrusions struggles

Published: Tue, October 27, 2009 @ 3:00 p.m.

BOARDMAN — General Extrusions auctioned much of its fabricating and finishing equipment Tuesday, making it unlikely that laid off workers will be recalled, a union official said.

Joe Terlecky, president of Local 5145 of the United Steelworkers of America, said the Lake Park Road aluminum extruder was forced to auction equipment in order to repay bank loans.

Another example of the worker getting screwed and the big banks running the show. Someone needs to find out if PNC was one of the banks the taxpayers bailed out. I feel bad for the workers. It doesn't look good for anyone to be recalled. Where are the local politicians? They should be getting involved. We do not need any more workers to lose their jobs, no do we need another empty building.
