U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan announces final application dates for military academy nominations

YOUNGSTOWN — U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles announced that all 17th Congressional District students who are seeking a nomination to one of the nation’s military academies must submit their final applications to his office no later than Nov. 2.

Ryan will make nominations in December to the Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

A nomination is not required for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, who accepts candidates based on their own selection process. A candidate interested in applying must contact the Coast Guard Academy directly.

Each applicant will have an interview with the district’s nomination committee Nov, 14 and a nominating breakfast will be in December. Anyone who needs further information should call Ryan’s Youngstown office at (330) 740-0193.
