Stimulus time requirements wash away 6 Boardman flood-control projects

Published: Sun, October 25, 2009 @ 12:55 p.m.

By Denise Dick

BOARDMAN — Six stormwater projects the township hoped to complete with federal stimulus money will remain shelved.

Administrator Jason Loree said that the time frame required to receive the federal funding wasn’t long enough to ensure the projects could secure permits from the Army Corps of Engineers.

“It’s too long of a process,” Loree said of the corps’ permit steps.

Still slated for the federal dollars through the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency are: Boardman Lake detention basin phases one and two, Aylesboro storm sewer replacement phase two, Boardman Park stormwater detention basin, Midwood Drive detention basin and storm sewer construction, Tara Drive/Alverne Drive stormwater detention basin and Westview Drive detention basin and storm sewer.

Township officials caution though, that as the review process continues, others may also be removed because of time limitations or permit requirements.

The projects total about $3 million with half coming from the federal funds and the remainder through a 20-year Water Pollution Control Loan.

Way to go Loree. When does Boardman ever fix anything? No wonder the Vindy said you should be replaced

I always watched the Diaper Dandy's basketball predictions from Dick Vitale. Little did I know we'd have a diaper dandy township administrator who can barely get to work by 9am.

This is typical and un-called for... I total wast of opportunity. I guess it is time to replace from the TOP Down.. well Boardman start with the two trustees next week. Out you go hopefully someone else knows how to budget time and money. But it is hard to get things done when you come in late... take long lunches and leave early. Better polish up your resume time to get a real job and work like everyone else has to. The free ride train is coming into the station

How many nights a week does the Admn. work? How many phone calls with trustees after hours and how many weekend meetings does the man attend to? You monkeys dont know and you dont care about making comments that are fair.

Loree. The same old excuses. You are way over your head in this job. You just tell everybody what your consultants tell you. You must be more proactive. Thats your job. Not a matter of going to meetings, etc. You are paid to think ahead. You are way over your head with this position. You really are just a figure head.

My source tells me he never gets in until after 9:30am and does not return phone calls for days. His assistant donated lots of money to gallito campaigns.
