Forum Health former CEO won't accept $9,000 a week consulting salary

Published: Thu, October 22, 2009 @ 11:56 a.m.

BOARDMAN — Walter “Buzz” Pishkur, the former CEO of Forum Health, today said he changed his mind and will not accept the $9,000-a-week salary to serve as a consultant for the health-care system.

Pishkur had a press conference at Mr. Anthony’s. He said he reconsidered his initial decision to accept the salary for two reasons.

First, he said he wasn’t being consulted about what was going on with the system. He said he believed he would be able to have some input in pushing forward a reorganizational plan for the system he implemented when he was CEO. Therefore, he said the $9,000 weekly salary was excessive.

Second, he learned the proposed compensation for the new interim CEO would be a $75,000 a month. He said that also caused him to change his mind because employees are being laid off and have had their incomes reduced.

$900k for the new interim ceo is criminal. And a LOT more than $9k a week, which was also criminal. 900k = 17307/week or 432 per hour based on a 40hr week. INSANE!!!

Walter has felt the sting of the public outcry over nine grand a week . Forum Heath should be ashamed for spending seventy five grand a month on his replacement . They are out of touch with the real world that the general public has to endure .

Was it really $9k a week? I dont know the whole facts, but I wonder if someone is assuming its based on a 40-hour week? Many consultants, good ones at that, get paid good money.

And as for $75k a month, its excessive. But what if he saves Northside from closing? What if he makes Forum financially healthy, so healthy it sticks around for the next 20 years. Everybody jumps on a number around here. How about measuring performance.

People in this area just plain don't get it. They wouldn't know what integrity was if it slapped them in the face. Buzz Pishkur was the only person who cared enough about Forum to put everything on the line. While everyone was focusing on the $9000 a week, someone slipped under the radar who will be earning $18000 a week. What masters of munipulations the lenders and their cronies are and they succeeded! How stupid were we to let them get control. Where is the union membership? They are the ones with the most to lose and they sit on their hands doing nothing, meanwhile the pink slips are going out and cuts are all ready being made. I'd say the SEIU's last minute rally might just be a tad late! Let the chips will fall where they may. Buzz Pishkur has stopped being your excuse for not taking charge of your own destiny and stepping up the way he did. JUST BEAM ME UP SCOTTY, I'm having a hard time walking around all this crap!

It's going to take more than just "getting rid of the board." I say get rid of the board, the CEO, the unions, and the entire health system. Let a phoenix rise from the ashes.

Massive amounts of money are available just for the taking . Those who toil keeping Forum Health operating by taking care of the patients are not the recipients of these massive amounts . A drastic overhaul of Forum Health is needed to bring things back into the proper perspective .

I agree with Stan. And, per MSNBC today: President Obama states that "excessive pay offends American values." Furthermore, Kenneth Feinberg, the U.S. Treasury official who is leading the pay review of companies receiving federal bailout money, told reporters that salaries for the top 25 executives are being cut 90% starting next month. Give a cheer! Perhaps our hospitals should have a pay czar, too.

What a bunch of idiots in the community!!! Buzz Pishkur is the ONLY person trying to save the entire entity of Forum Health including Northside Medical Center. No one else even tried.....

The LENDERS forced him out, if he didn't resign, they would close Northside ASAP. And yet the board agreed to pay another Consultant from "who knows where" $17,000.00 a month, who is only a puppet for the lenders in order to clean the place out for as much as they can get, as fast as they can. If we think this week's round of layoff's is all that will be coming we are sadly mistaken!

The lenders don't give a rat's ass about anyone in this community, all they want is MONEY, and they don't care who gets hurt. The remaining administration, and you know who you are..... are doing whatever they can to save their own jobs, with no regard for any others.

Buzz had a plan to get the Lenders their money and keep all 3 of of Forum Health's hosiptals running. It's a shame that the majority of this community can't see that, he tried to save Forum Health, and no one cared.......

The Neuman "puppet" will be making $75,000 a month not $17,000. SEIU complained about the 9k offered to Mr. Pishkur (which was a joke since he declined it anyway) but no mention about the 75k. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
