CHAMPION — Champion Elementary School had classes today despite a bus driver finding a 27-year-old Champion man’s body on the playground this morning.
Champion Police Chief Chris Redick said no foul play is suspected in the man’s death.
The man had a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Police are considering the death a homicide until they are notified by the Trumbull County coroner on an official cause of death.
Redick credits the Champion school staff for finding the body, so that a child did not discover it.
The school did have recess inside the building today as a result of the investigation.

So no foul play is suspected ? Police are considering the death a homicide ? Yep, makes sense .
No foul play, but homicide. That is like drinking lemonade without the lemon. Great police work!
What that means is that the police suspect suicide but are collecting evidence as if it were a homicide just incase the coroner's office finds the death was suspicious.
Hope that makes sense to you now Stan
if he was found with a knife in his back, would they investigate a horrible case of SUICIDE lol
I remember when I was stationed at Ft. Bragg back in the 60's. A black man was found hanging from a tree with 3 bullet wounds and hands tied behind his back. The sheriff who happened to be white said it was the worst case of suicide he had ever seen.
theword is exactly right.
theword:
The proper terminology would have been suspected suicide .
