YOUNGSTOWN — Mahoning County Democratic Party Chairman David Betras released a new statewide poll today that shows support for Issue 3 on Ohio’s November ballot is waning.
Betras, an adamant opponent of Issue 3, said a poll conducted by a Florida company showed only 48 percent of those questioned said they would vote for the gambling casino issue if voting today. That’s down from a recent Ohio Newspaper Poll that showed 59 percent of voters backed the issue, he said.
Betras said the new poll showed 44 percent of the respondents said they would vote against the measure today, up from 38 percent in the newspaper poll.

With all due respect, Attorney David Betras:
Every single person, I have spoken to, in the past month and today are voting YES on Issue 3.
I believe an independent "POLL" needs to be done in the state of Ohio.
Many of our Valley residents are taking organized charters to other States or driving, in order to gamble.
I do agree with you, Sir, on principle; however, why should the lottery be legal?
Many people are playing the lottery instead of buying food or clothing for their children.
Thank you.
Vote YES because everything you hear on TV and the radio is being paid for and edited by out-of-state pockets. Why do out-of-state interests want us to vote no?...because they do not want to lose Ohio dollars. Ohio dollars support the out-of-state casinos and their interests. Stop the outflow of Ohio money. Please vote YES on Issue 3...keep Ohio dollars in Ohio and maybe we can start bringing in money from adjoining states as well.
Dave Betras is a loud mouth idiot. Only he would want jobs to leave Ohio. Doesn't he realize how many people leave Ohio to gamble in other states. These people also spend their money on food, hotels, gas etc. Spending the money in Ohio only makes it better for Ohio. Vote yes on 3, Vote Dave out.
Yeah, but arent we (ytown) being left out in the cold? Will WE be able to build casinos here if 3 passes???
If the state makes enough money from the first four casinos, they will have no problem changing the laws to allow for more casinos in Ohio.
There are so many comments here that prove that uninformed people are simply unable to make informed decisions. If anyone is interested in learning the many, many downsides of having yet another casino would be well advised to read "Gambling in America" by Dr. Earl Grinols or the voluminous research of Dr. John Kindt (much of which is available by searching the web). There is much more information "out there," but I have found these two gentlemen, who began with no opinion on gambling and/or casinos and are now convinced that there is no "upside" to building another casino, so accurate that I always go to them first!
