Man held in Campbell girl’s rape and kidnapping

CAMPBELL — A 15-year-old Campbell girl was abducted at knifepoint on her way to school Monday morning and taken to an abandoned house in the city, where she was raped, police say.

Charles Hudson, 55, who is homeless, is charged with felony rape and felony kidnapping, city police said. He was arraigned this morning in municipal court and police expect him to be taken to the Mahoning County jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Police said the girl gave a very detailed description of the man, including the way he walked. Police said they recognized Hudson based on her description and he was identified from a photo lineup.

He was arrested at 10 p.m. Monday after police found him with the help of Struthers police and that department’s police dog.

A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 20.
