Congraduation Mr. President ! What a surprise. It seems the world knows talent too! After Bush being so Arrogant! It surprises me how the world feels about America and are Young President. With this award that's Four Democrats that have recieved it. I don't know of any Republican getting it. I wonder why ?But I don't wonder that much cause I know you as well as the world does.

"His extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples."

Shocking.

If I had to guess, I would have thought he received it because he was ever-so-caring-and-generous with his "stash" of wealth:

Henry Kissinger won it.

I think the Nobel Committee has just put the last nail in their coffin as a legitamite award. They gave the darn thing to Arafat. What a joke.

I do not mean to sound stupid, but since nominations for this award were closed in February, merely a few weeks after the inauguration, what exactly did he do within that time frame for consideration for this award?

The Nobel Prize is for accompishments achieved for the PRECEDING year, not the current year. How did Barack Obama accomplish anything foreign policy-wise the year before he was elected to office? If someone could explain that to me, I would be happy to hear you out.

Logically speaking, this is a bizarre choice given this man has not even served a year as president.

I guess if you kiss enough European behind, you will get rewarded. But Obama is not even that favorable with many in Europe these days.

I am sorry, this was a bad choice.

I just love the GOP philosophy that everyone is wrong but them.

Liberals are wrong.
Europeans are wrong.
Muslims are wrong.
Government is wrong.
Poor people are wrong.
Environmentalists are wrong.
Scientists are wrong.
Gays and lesbians are wrong.
Socialists are wrong.

Now, the most esteemed committee in the world is wrong because they choose someone for the PEACE prize who has done more for U.S. international relations in one year than our previous leadership did in eight. In fact, it was the philosophy of that previous administration that the U.S. didn't need international support or good will. In many ways, this award for Obama should be looked at as an award for the U.S. Its a symbol that were are a leader among peers and are no longer acting like a dictator to inferior nations.

For what? Hillary deserves it more than him (she does a much better job outside of this country than in it). I would give it to Moammar Kadafi for that amazing speech...whatever the heck he said during that rambling speech.

Actions speak louder than words. The Obama Administration has done absolutely nothing to enhance peace in the Middle East, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc. With the blessings of Obama, Israel has slaughtered over 1500 Palestinians in Gaza with impunity and he continues to send over $8 million per day to these war criminals. If this is peacemaking then it is no different than promoting war and funding war crimes.

City, I shall reiterate. This award is based on acts during the year preceding the date of nomination. Obama did nothing during that year but campaign, and frankly there are a host of people more worthy of this award.

Pope John Paul II and Ghandi did more for this world for peace than anything Obama has ever done, and yet they were not awarded for their lifetime efforts. That is something I have a major problem with when it comes to this organization, because they should have received an award before this president.

Forgive me if I believe there are better candidates out there. When you give an award to a 2 year Senator and a 3/4th of a year president over people with a lifetime of servitude, there is a major problem, particularly when that individual has done little foreign policy-wise but kiss a lot of behind and make grandiose speeches. I am sorry, this was wrong, and I will not apologize for making an issue out of it.

I looked at the list of Nobel Peace prize winners... half of them don't deserve to be included with the actual accomplished winners..... AL GORE, the UN, arafat... winners of the same award as mother teresa, the red cross, MLK? Doesn't make sense.

This is the first time in Nobel history that an award has been issued with "the hope" (that's how they put it) that he will fulfill his promised role of re-uniting the world. ??? They issued a peace prize "hoping" he would bring peace?

Haha. His promises.

His promises are about as empty as the pockets of the middle and lower class.
