First Place Bank in Warren robbed; bandit walks away

Published: Fri, October 9, 2009 @ 1:25 p.m.

WARREN — A man robbed the First Place Bank branch in the Elm Road Plaza at about 9:50 a.m. today and walked away from the bank on foot before disappearing.

Police said the man walked into the bank, handed an employee a note and received money. He did not show anyone a gun, police said.

The man was described as having a red beard and mustache and was wearing a ski cap and green coat. Police searched the area around the bank, including the Giant Eagle supermarket, but did not locate him.

No one was injured in the robbery.
