WAVERLY, Ohio (AP) — An 18-year-old Ohio man has been sentenced to two years in prison for his role in an infant’s loss of two toes to rat bites.
Todd Trent pleaded guilty Monday to child endangering and was sentenced by Judge Randy Deering of Pike County Common Pleas Court.
Trent was the boyfriend of the child’s mother when authorities discovered in July that the 6-week-old girl had been seriously injured by rats in the family’s mobile home west of Piketon in southern Ohio. Prosecutors say the home was filthy and dangerous.
Child endangering charges are still pending against three others, including the mother.
The infant girl was hospitalized for several days and then released to relatives.

Tragic ! A pet cat could have prevented this . Rats can and do chew into spotless homes . In Youngstown the city used to put out rat baits to eliminate them . The cost of incarcerating him would buy a truckload of rat bait packets .
Where were the relatives that this poor girl was released to during the time she was being neglected and abused? The parent(s) need to be castraited and never be allowed to care for children for allowing this to happen.
Totally inexcusable!
