Youngstown cops seek suspects in slaying of man, 23

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are looking for those responsible for the murder of a 23-year-old Youngstown man gunned down on the city’s North Side.

Darrick M. Hall, of East Marion Avenue, was shot “multiple times in several parts of his body,” according to a police report.

Hall was killed on the corner of North Avenue and Arlington Street about 2 a.m. Sunday. Police found him lying in the grass on the east side of North Avenue about 150 feet north of Arlington.

As Hall was dying, police asked who shot him. Because of the wounds, his answer wasn’t clear, according to a police report.

Officers found multiple spent shell casings near his body as well as keys to a Buick Park Avenue car. The car was about 30 feet from Hall’s body. In the rear seat of the car was a handgun, police say.

A 21-year-old New Castle, Pa., woman told police she was sitting behind Hall’s car talking on her cell phone when she saw shadows and then heard gunshots.

The woman said she saw several men dressed in black clothing shoot Hall and then run away, police said.

No arrests were made as of late Sunday.

Police do not have descriptions for any suspects.

Also, police said a window at St. Elizabeth Health Center, where Hall was taken, was shot out as a result of the shooting.

Hall is the city’s 22nd homicide victim this year.

As of this time last year, there were 23 homicides in the city. Overall, there were 28 homicides in Youngstown last year.
