The club would be volunteers who would help throughout the area.
YOUNGSTOWN — Warriors Inc. is looking for a few good men, women and young people to join a volunteer club.
The new club will unite adults and youths to help various organizations and projects in the Mahoning Valley.
“It’s an opportunity to support the community you live in, to become part of the community you live in,” said Wendy Robinson, community ministry liaison for Warriors.
Warriors is a nonprofit organization that offers programs and clubs such as computer literacy and chess to children and adults.
In the past, Robinson said, the organization’s basketball team and some small groups have chosen to volunteer.
The volunteer club would be an expansion of that, “because we saw the rewards in volunteering,” she said.
The club will meet one Saturday a month and volunteer for various organizations in the Valley.
“We want to have them active in the community,” Robinson said, “so every month we’ll be at a different location.”
Members of the volunteer club will work together at locations such as nursing homes and hospitals. At nursing homes, they’ll read to residents and polish nails. In hospitals, they’ll hang holiday decorations.
They’ll also participate in city cleanups, among other activities.
Typically, they will volunteer for two hours at a time.
