BOARDMAN — The 50th anniversary of their Sept. 19, 1959, wedding at St. Brendan Catholic Church was celebrated by Mr. and Mrs. Gerald F. Lewis, 123 Danbury Drive, during a family trip to Vermont in July and at a dinner party at Drakes Landing.

Hosts for the dinner were their children and their spouses, Jerry Jr. and Mary Lewis and their children Sean and Katie Lewis of Lancaster, Pa.; Michael Lewis and his daughter, Chelsea Lewis, of Coldwell; Nancy and Lee Galik and their children, Stefani and Sara Galik, of Clarkston, Mich.

Mr. Lewis, who is known as Jerry, served eight years with the Naval Reserve, and retired from the Plumber and Pipefitters Local 87 (396).

Mrs. Lewis, who is known as Winnie, was active with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and served as cheerleader adviser for Boardman Little Spartans.

For the past 35 years she has been a nanny to many children, who continue to be part the couple’s lives and are considered to be their surrogate grandchildren.
