Traficant will be a guest of CNN’s Blitzer

Published: Fri, October 2, 2009 @ 1:55 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — Former U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr. is scheduled to be a guest Monday on CNN’s “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer.”

This will be Traficant’s fifth national television appearance — and his second on CNN — since his Sept. 2 release from federal prison.

Traficant is expected to speak with Blitzer live around 6 p.m. Monday.

Good grief! Is there no end to this man's egomania?
Jim, sit at home with Pat, enjoy the family and please stop this embarassment of the valley. We have moved on from your antics and bravado.

He was out of the spotlight for eight years. I guess he feels that he has a lot of catching up to do.

Can't he just fade away? I'm a democrat and I really don't want to hear from this EX-CON any more. Do any of his supporters realize he violated the law?

There are far more sophisticated people in the political know, than many of those commenting here. Perhaps the national shows want to interview James Traficant because they are far closer to the truth, regarding their knowledge of our highest political offices. They may be interested in someone like James Traficant out of respect for his unwillingness to be defeated by the system, and his willingness to speak for what he believes are government wrongs. James Traficant is no innocent, but his wrongdoing does not equate to being wrong about what he speaks of through his experiences in high-level politics. Do not be so narrow minded to think that he is nothing but an ex-con, closing your eyes to the problems of this country is what makes Youngstown look bad, not James Traficant alone.

The Wolf (Blitzer), a former journalist for Israel's Jerusalem Post, will go jugular at Traficant and do everything he can to discredit him over his patriotic critique of Israel. Jim will again speak brilliantly and courageously to this critical issue, but the Wolf will edit it so badly that the opposite message will be broadcast. Eventually the truth will come out, and Traficant, formerly America's #1 political prisoner, will be recognized by every thinking person as an American hero.

Actually, in my experience, the people of the Mahoning Valley KNOW the problems of this country better than ANYONE- they LIVE them every day. What it boils down to is this: it's not WHAT you know, it's WHO you know- and how much money you've got. You can't be HONEST and expect to thrive. People KNOW Jim Trafficant wasn't the ONLY one taking bribes, but they also know he was ONE of them- and they're NOT stupid enough to think putting someone CONVICTED of corruption back in office is going to change anything.

I really don't believe that Jim will run for office . So far what I have seen has been his savoring the reception that he was given upon his return . The news media interviews have been good for both his ego and his wallet . At some point the attention will dissipate and Jim will have to decide on what to occupy his time with . Criticism of past performance will quickly dampen his desire for the political arena . So far the criticsm has been mild . Blitzer may crank it up a notch on his show .

Yes, our local politicians have done such a great job of leading the valley into the toilet. I would be embarrased to associate myself to the valley if I were Mr. Traficant, he is a much smarter man.

Bravo Jim! Just heard your brilliant interview on CNN. You did the Valley proud. Everything you said made millions of Americans begin to have real hope that there may just be a revival of government of, for and by the people. We don't need you just in the House of Representatives. We, The People, need you in the White House. Give 'em hell Jim. We are behind you 100%!

""The only reason I will run is to help a deprived area, number one, and number two, to get the IRS and the Justice Department right by the short hairs...that's telling it the way it is," Traficant said."

So will The Valley come first or Jim satisfying the vendetta ? History can't be repealed and we need to move forward . Lots of work needs to be done to lure industry to the area . We need a politician in DC who can use teamwork to get the votes needed to help The Valley .

Sometimes you need the simple wisdom of the son of a truck driver to understand what the people of the Mahoning Valley need. Look at these town hall meetings where congressmen tell their constituents to sit down and not ask questions. As if they know what is best for them. It seems to me that whether you agree or disagree with the judicial process that James Traficant went through and it's verdict, it doesn't change the fact that in that at the end of the day he can identify with the average American!

What in the world is wrong with you people??
What?
This man is a crook and a thief and a liar. And has been for some time. He was a crook and a corrupt bum when he was sheriff. Those of us who were at the time working in local law enforcement knew it, it was a not-so-funny joke in more than one squad room.
You had evidence of his corruption as sheriff, and proceeded to make him our ''representative'' to the Congress. Proving thereby that massive corruption is 'OK in the Valley'.
You wonder why a string of cockamamie schemes (remember Commuter Aircraft Corp., Airship Enterprises, and several others) have sucked dollars and hope, and run for the exits? Because we have proven for more than 60 years that we will go to any length to stay on the good side of racketeers, corrupt politicians, avaricious unions, and the Democrat Socialist clans. Would you put a big company here if you had the choice? Not if you had a brain in your head, not so long as crooks like Jim Traficant are the image you want of the area we have called home.

Jimbo will not run for office again. He is best suited as a voice with, and for the people, against this federal government who has no problem taking away the rights of the people. Wake up people! Yes, some people who attend the Tea Parties are radicals, but those events are to inform the people about the laws that are being passed in our legislation that will have a negative effect on our great country and the citizens that live in it. Stop being myopic in your views because that just breeds ignorance. Jim Traficant is not a stupid man when it comes to the goings on in Capital Hill. He will always be a target for his open attacks on certain government entities. Government has become big business, no accountability to its constituents, none. Jim Traficant speaks to make the people that we put into office accountable to the people. We are the people........ you have a voice...... I suggest some of you become informed on the laws being passed under your very noses and educate yourselves to the effect it will have on you and your neighbors in your community. Jim Traficant is the last maverick in my book. Not afraid to stand up against the odds. Take what is meaningful and throw away what isn't..... People, let it go...... he paid his dues to society!
