Redefining freedom in D.C.

EDITOR:

One could not help but be impressed with the words of U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan last week. On Monday he was quoted, “In 2009, we need to redefine freedom, and freedom in America in 2009 means being healthy and having access to a health care system that isn’t just for the elite but it’s for everybody.” On Friday he was quoted, “A strong Forum Health system is valuable to our community, and we have an obligation to keep it operational.”

He says these things knowing he was never granted the right to redefine freedom or to keep a private company operational. It must be something in the D.C. drinking water.

The new Democratic-Socialist definition of freedom appears to be:

Serving prison time for not purchasing what the government tells you to.

No "freedom" for the elderly, who will face rationing after $426 billion in Medicare and Medicaid cuts.

No "freedom" for small businesses. They will see a huge surtax and up to 8% in new payroll taxes. How will that affect wages and the unemployment rate?

No "freedom" for many others. This bill includes a $2 billion tax on those who already have health insurance, $20 billion in taxes on medical devices, $8 billion in taxes on anyone who buys over-the-counter drugs with money from their health-savings accounts, and $140 billion in higher taxes on drugs. Also, this bill will drive up premiums. A family of four with an income of $78,000 would pay $13,800 for insurance a year by 2016, according to CBO. Their tab would average $11,000 without the bill.

Instead of "freedom", I think he meant "FEE-DOM".

I think someone needs to remind Tim Ryan of the individual freedom we have due to this countries founding fathers, not his health care vote. Let's call this what it truly is, a political power grab by the Democrats. They are looking to further grow the population who needs them to hand out entitlements for votes. For those of you who do not see this, you should lose your right to vote, because you are too lazy or naive to conduct any due diligence.

I feel regret for those of you who do not comprehend the ramifications of this vote. If this reform is passed, health care as you know it will look totally different in the not so distant future. You supporters today will be complaining about rationing of care, waiting longer for care, or panels ruling out the continuation of a treatment which could save your life.

These morons in the federal government cannot even run a website with $28,000,000 of stimulus money whose primary focus is on tracking stimulus money and it's job creation. Reports in the last week show money being spent and jobs created in Congressional Districts which do not exist!! This is a prime example of why the government's role in our lives needs to be decreased not expanded.

However, I am walking around with a smile on my face, because when the American People come to realize what these 'honest politicians' have passed, the Democrats will have committed political suicide!! I cannot totally blame the American People for not keeping up on this topic, they have many more important things to do like monitoring social networking websites, watching Dancing with the Stars, & taking advantage of all these great holiday sales.

There might be a short delay in the US citizens ability to recognize this as a mistake, but Tim Ryan and others who voted for this colossal blunder will be reflected upon negatively in the pages of history!!

I recommend all you fat asses hit the treadmill, cut out the fast food, and put down that cigarette. Get healthy now!!

Regards,
PS

The GOP Fascist definition of freedom is:

That energy company lobbyists should write our energy policies; drug company lobbyists shouldn't write out health care policies and credit card company lobbyists shouldn't write our bankruptcy policies.

That our "representatives" should represent global corporations not US citizens.

That American jobs should be exported in bad trade policies. That being in debt to China is a good idea because we like their sweat shop wages.

That like Reagan we should help brutal Third World dictators just because they will be "friendly" to global corporations. That America should tell the rest of the world how to live because we have money and guns on our side. That U.S. corporate interests should drive foreign policy.

That budgets should show we care more about warfare
that US citizens welfare. That corporate good comes before the public good.

The GOP fascist believe we should never listen to scientific research just corporate research that denies corporate responsibility. That it should always be denied that man holds any responsibility in the damage done to the enviornment.

That tort reform is needed to protect corporations for damages they cause.

Instead of freedom the GOP wants "CORPRATE-DOMINATION"

You GOP fascist can continue to bow and service your corporate masters as a god. I will worship my God who puts people before profits.

WAKE UP AMERICA!!! And take part in demanding our politicians begin doing what they were elected to do, to SERVE us, rather than their ALL POWERFUL, CORRUPT party bosses, and themselves.

Yes, Heartland, The vast majority of politicians in the GOP Party are also corrupt, self serving "morons", without morals and values, just like the Socialists/Democrats, who want to further redefine and take away MORE of our FREEDOMS!!!

One thing to remember insurance companies made a profit of 3.3% either last quarter or the one before.

The one reason insurance is so high is to cover costs is to cover [materials] Plasma, drugs, rooms etc. tests and all the cool machines they have. Let alone extended stay or the cancer word.

Conservatives in the GOP have been yelling for torte reform and to open up the right to buy insurance on a national basis.

Medicare [government run] has the highest rejection rate at 7.7%

Corruption yes it runs deep in both parties, do they buy votes? Yes they do. I would not put it past this administration to hold troop funding back as a lever for a yes vote.

Two small answers vote out all incumbents and roll the dice. Or set term limits.

The LA purchase has been raised to 300 million words from her mouth.

STOP fighting, WAKE UP!

whites vs. blacks

christians vs. muslims

democrats vs. republicans

What do you think about this theory...

Everyone is falling for one of these fights because they want us to fight amongst ourselves, they want us to be preoccupied so they can continue increasing their own power and wealth at the expense of the sheeple (people). If we open our eyes and see what is really going on then they will be scared. Right now we have the power to correct our problems. But after they take everything from us it will be too late to correct anything. They think we're stupid, so they're not yet scared.

I am not advocating any kind of violence. I don't think that this theory has been planned out by anyone, but it is very possible to go that way right now.

Globalism will automatically 'spread the wealth' . This will hurt us spoiled Americans, but help the unfortunate poor people from other countries. Is that good or bad? Wether we like it or not, we are headed for a hurting. So we must seek to live a poorer way of life so we are used to it by the time we are poor.
We must learn to live on less. If not, then when the economic system finally fails people who cannot provide for themselves will simply take what they need from people who can provide for themselves.
If all of the self-sufficient people loose what they have, then who will the others get their stuff from?

In just 2 generations most people have forgot how to provide for themselves. Ex. Gardening and farming. Everyone who lived through the great depression ate if they had a garden. Those who did not went hungry, then learned how to farm and or grow gardens. They wasted nothing.

If another great depression hits, do you really think that the people of today will grow gardens? No, it's too hard. It's easier to just steal what they want. Also, those people were religious, so they had good values and morals. People today are losing their religion and finding bad values and morals. In the event of an economic collapse, todays unprepared people will hurt each other instead of help each other.

So prepare for the worst before it comes. Don't be a sucker and follow the rest off the cliff. God helps those who help themselves.

Repair, you've made a lot of great points in your post, and so have many others who have posted under this subject.

The vast majority of our corrupt politicians are so self serving, that they couldn't care less about what's best for America. So, while we "prepare for the worst before it comes" we can be effective by uniting as andersonathan has stated, to "vote out all incumbents and roll the dice. Or set term limits."

Where do we find good, trustworthy people to vote for? Most politicians are lawyers who have become blinded by money. Their sense of right and wrong is skewed. It is human nature to justify ones actions and thoughts. Even if they're wrong, people find a way to make themselves feel right. Just as news reporters spin storeys to tell their version, so do lawyers spin laws to benefit their wallets. Many laws and bills and organizations started out with good intentions. The republicans now want us to think they're helping us by stopping the democrats from taking our rights. But remember the good intentioned bills signed by bush, like the rico act and the patriot act. Because of lawyers' eloquent spinning of the law these two bills have taken even more of our rights. Politics today is dem vs rep, and we the people are just their tools. We need to remind them that they work for us, not vice versa. Labor unions and democrats helped the working man better himself. They had a time and place though. Are they still for the working man? Insurance is a wonderful idea, but the lawyers screwed that up too. Too many lawsuits. In a couple of years, the word 'accident' will probably be removed from the english language. A true accident faults noone, then lawyers can't sue anyone, There is always someone to blame.
Did we let these people go to far already? Thomas Jefferson once said from time to time the tree of liberty needs to be cleansed by the blood of patriots and tyrants. Don't make revolution the only solution. Now is the time to act and right the wrongs. If everyone sits on their butts because they don't feel its their job to do so then it will be too late. I think this bad economy is a good thing. It has forced me to look differently at life. But if I was unaffected by it, then I would have never recognized it. We need the rest of the robots in our country to recognize what's happening. Their life is too good though. There's a reason why greed is one of the 7 deadly sins.
