The Mahoning County commissioners on Thursday adopted a consolidated set of county building regulations and a new set of minimum fees for various types of permits to cover inspection, review and permit processing costs.
The lowest of the new minimum fees taking effect Dec. 19 will be $25 for installing roofing, siding or windows at a house. A $50 minimum fee will apply for residential porches, garages, decks and pools of 600 square feet or less.
The base building permit rate of $2.50 per $1,000 of construction cost, which was established in 1992, will remain unchanged for both residential and commercial construction. The building inspection department operates solely on permit-fee income.

Are these Commissioners looking to Boost the Economy or Slow it down? I would say they are slowing it down. There's no or little money out there now and this is just stupid for the public. Maybe the Public Servants will benfit. What leaders they are !
