Dana concert puts ‘Hands on Pianos’

YOUNGSTOWN — A Dana School of Music concert titled “Hands on Pianos” will be at 7 p.m. Sunday in Ford Family Recital Hall, 260 W. Federal St. Pianists Dror Biran, a native of Israel, Michael Schneider, United States, James Wilding, South Africa, and Caroline Oltmanns, Germany, will perform piano works for one to four players.

The repertoire begins with selections featuring the musicians using either one hand or two. A variety of additional choices will be performed by duos or trios, including selections by Bach, Brahms and Dvor °k.

After intermission, a variety of famous melodies and marches on two pianos for up to eight hands will be performed.

Admission is $5 ($4 for seniors). Tickets will be available at the door or in advance by calling (330) 744-0264.

Salem chorus releases CD, schedules shows

The Salem Youth Chorus, directed by Jon Simsic, has released a CD, “Festival of Lessons and Carols,” for Christmas and has scheduled several concerts. The CD contains a selection of music and Scripture appropriate for the Christmas season. It can be purchased for $10 at any of the concerts or by calling Salem Community Theatre at (330) 332-9688.

The concerts are free, but an offering will be accepted. The schedule is as follows:

- Sunday, 4 p.m., St. Jude Catholic Church, 180 Seventh St., Columbiana.

- Nov. 27, 7:30 p.m., St. Peter of the Fields Catholic Church, 3487 Old Forge Road, Rootstown.

- Nov. 28, 8 p.m., St. Paul Catholic Church, 935 E. State St., Salem.

- Nov. 9, 4 p.m., St. James Episcopal Church, 7640 Glenwood Ave., Boardman.

‘Rabbit Hole’ opens tonight at Mount Union

ALLIANCE — The Mount Union College Department of Theatre will present “Rabbit Hole,” the 2007 Pulitzer Prize winner written by David Lindsay-Abaire. Performances will be at 8 tonight through Saturday in the Rodman Playhouse.

In “Rabbit Hole,” a young couple has everything a family could want, until a life-shattering accident turns their world upside down and leaves the couple drifting apart. The play explores their search for comfort in the darkest places and for a path that will lead them back into the light of day.

Rodman Playhouse is on the corner of Simpson Street and Union Avenue on the Mount Union College campus. Tickets are $8. For more information or to order tickets, call (330) 821-2565.
