YOUNGSTOWN — Four Asian companies are considering the Mahoning Valley for office or plant locations after an overseas trip by Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber officials.
Tom Humphries, chamber president, and Eric Planey, chamber vice president for international business attraction, returned Sunday from a 15-day trip to visit with corporate and government officials in China and Taiwan.
At a news conference today, Planey said the most likely deal to come from the trip also is the smallest. A company that he and Humphries met with was interested in the Mahoning Valley for a sales office. A deal could happen within 12 months, he said.
The others were longer-term projects and included a steel company and maker of electrical equipment.

We need to get a company set up here pronto . How about putting the street thugs to work in a prison factory making chopsticks for export ?
No kidding they were going to report back to this community that "somebody" is interested in coming to our Valley to bring a business or jobs; they were in China and Taiwan for over 15 days! Now ask yourself, wouldn't YOU like to fly to those places and wine and dine at someone elses expense for fifteen days. As Sarah Palin would say, "You Betcha"! Same old Mahoning Valley bull...t.
LostPatrol (and I mean lost) - you should read the whole story on the front page of today's business section. It actually explains the whole trip, the probability assigned to each opportunity, and what came out of it.
Here we go again, name calling by a more informed "Erplane". Well, I wish I had the time to read more on the subject but I am late for my job at the Ronenburg Brewery, have to hurry home to get to my second shift job at the dirigible manufacturing plant, and am stopping in between jobs to get the oil changed on my 1988 Avanti up on Wick Avenue; next to State Chevy. Maybe I'll see you at the Youngstown Club, since they've now relaxed their jacket and tie policy to piercings and tattoo's to get at least ten patrons in the place at Lunch.
