COLUMBUS (AP) — The state watchdog has found that one state Department of Transportation employee ran his private business on state time while another made excessive personal phone calls.
Ohio Inspector General Tom Charles found that transportation technician Roland Ladipo ran his personal real estate business on 560 hours of state time, representing $29,993 in salary and benefits. Charles also found that traffic engineer Albert Antoine made 110 hours of personal calls on state time, representing $6,507 in salary and benefits.
The report, released today, says Ladipo admitted to investigators he was making calls for his personal business on state time.
The report has been submitted to the state transportation department and the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office for further review.

These two, unfortunately, need to resign their jobs as they seemingly feel confident enough to take advantage of the trust and responsibilities they have been given within their occupation and employer.
Perhaps they innocently believe they are following "the pack" / seen others do the same over a period of weeks, months, decades, but why have they, and others, not learned and decidedly taken the path from those who have been caught; instead of simply following the rules and duly and truly stand for what is proper and right.
God speed and continued success Ohio Inspector General Tom Charles.
What happens to most public troughers in the same or similar situation? They'll get 2 weeks of PAID time off and get to keep their jobs. No wonder the state is bankrupt as well as most government entities. Mr Antoine makes $6500 for 110 hours, which equates to $123,000 in wages and benefits for a complete year. In a real job, he gets fired. Amazing, simply amazing.
