YOUNGSTOWN — A robber got away with an undisclosed amount of money at the Family Dollar on Glenwood Avenue on Sunday afternoon, police said.

Residents really need to consider spreading intersection cameras to public area sectors. Perhaps this may be a slight deterrent to crime, but it would record the scene, for better or for worse.

Youngstown is no better or worse than other communities insofar as crime; however, we don't need this blanket of crime with our perceived past history.

Either hire more city officers and / or county deputies or consider bringing in the National Guard. Hell, we already have the reputation so why not raise national awareness that we are doing something STRONG to fight crime [ since we obviously don't have the manpower to fight ].

The renaissance of Youngstown is being fueld by crack dollars . It is not without growing pains . Family Dollar is to be commended for their charitable contribution . History is being made and Youngstown will reach new heights of infamy .

If you do research around the country, you'll see that robbery and crime escalate in November and December with the holidays coming and the money being handled on a daily basis. And this is everywhere, not just Youngstown.

foxtrot / wouldntyoulike2know : Are you the racist??

"And it sounds to me that some of you are racist because you know that the police chief and the mayor are african american!!!"

Fan the racist flames somewhere else - not here.

Plenty of Caucasians voted for Mayor Jay Williams in both elections and if that is racist then maybe a grass roots effort needs to start up to never again elect Jay Williams to any public office.

Where were you touting racism when Richley, Mckelvey and Ungaro were Mayor?

Your past comments have been intelligent and insightful, but your race playing card comments lack the efforts of someone who should know better.

Candystripper: That is hysterical and I plan to spread the website name attached to a psychological medical release form so I don't get blamed for any psychological trauma.

Hope4thevalley: Thank you very much. I enjoy reading your comments and feel the same as you on many issues you have commented on.

We could probably help look for the criminal but as usual absolutely no description!! Sounds like that 36.98 that they stole from the register wasn't enough to give a f*** about! Seriously, rob a family dollar, is it really worth the time, get a job scumbag, should have asked for a job application while you were at it!
